About Your Farmers

Our names are Amanda Levine and Dylan Williams. We are co-owners and farmers of Town Farm L.L.C. We met working on a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) farm in New York, and hope to create our own CSA for 2011 in Ledyard, Connecticut. A CSA is an operation where we offer shares of our crop for a fee paid prior to the growing season. We will be offering full shares, which means a member of the CSA would pick up their share of fresh organic produce on a scheduled weekly basis. Additionally, for those who might want to split a share with a friend or family member, or only buy half a share, those members would be picking up their produce every other week. Towards the end of the Summer we will have more information about the CSA. We will also be working on reaching out to local restaurants who are interested in supporting local organic farms. This season, we are growing 37 different varieties of vegetables.

The farmhouse is located on Town Farm Road in Ledyard, Connecticut. We are cultivating just over two acres of land, and plan to expand next season as we gain more equipment. We will be growing our produce organically but are not yet certified.

As this is our first year of operation, we will be vending at one Farmer’s Market, located at the Ledyard Fairgrounds, in Ledyard Center. Additionally we will set up our own farm-stand location TBA, beginning in July.

Throughout this season we will get to know and form relationships with our local community. If you are interested in becoming a member of Town Farm CSA for the 2011 season, or just want to come and check out the farm, we welcome you to contact us to plan a visit to our farm during the 2010 season. As 2011 will be our first year as a CSA, we will be starting with a limited number of available shares, but we plan to grow the following year.

The key to a CSA and Town Farm is community and spreading the Locavore message: Know who is growing your food!

Best,

Amanda & Dylan
